Wedding Invitation of the Week

semple_7

This is wedding invitation is actually amazing. There are so many colours and textures being used and it just works. Riley at Papellerie created this lovely set for Ailee and Sasha who were having a Napa Valley Summer wedding. The Save the Date card was die cut into the shape of a wine bottle and grapes were incorporated into their designs.

First, you have the lined outer envelope with a custom calligraphy guest address. Nobody does this but it’s so pretty!  The invitation is a letterpressed AND gold foiled white cardstock. I love this combination of gold and soft pink. And because this invitation is not amazing enough, Riley came up with the brilliant idea of adding a pocket to the back on the invitation to hold the reply card the map. I love this idea!

The map is a custom illustration and it adds some whimsy to the ultra high-end gold foil script typography of the invitation suite. Oh, and the rehearsal dinner invitation was done with gold foil type on an oak wood card. So, no big deal.

I don’t know if you could fit any more unique techniques into one wedding invitation, but Riley does it flawlessly. The colours are not matchy-matchy, and that’s what makes it look so modern. Jump over to Papellerie for more photos!

Wedding Invitation of the Week

Rustic-Elegant-Letterpress-Gold-Foil-Wedding-Invitations-Ladyfingers-Letterpress2

These hand lettered wedding invitations are from Arley-Rose and Morgan of Ladyfingers Letterpress . The classic navy and gold color palette pairs perfectly with the elegant gold foil, rustic kraft paper and whimsical hand lettering.

The couple, Kate and Alex, were planning a wedding to be held at the historic Presidio Chapel in San Francisco, and they wanted to capture the sophistication and elegance of their wedding while giving their guests something to hold onto and cherish forever.

They achieved a perfect gold and navy color palette by hot foil stamping gold foil onto a soft navy paper. The rest of their suite was letterpress printed in navy onto kraft paper, 110lb Crane Lettra paper, and shimmer gold paper. Their suite was wrapped in the kraft paper belly band and housed in a shimmer gold-lined kraft paper envelope. The phrase, “True Love is the Greatest Adventure,” graces the top of their invitation, reminding their loved ones that the best is yet to come!

Wedding Invitation of the Week

whimsical-diy-floral-wedding-invitations Textile designer Melissa Kelman was inspired by her love of pattern, florals, and color when she created her own wedding invitations. Every piece featured a stamped image of her own hand painted calligraphy – genius! And no two were identical.

The wedding invitations were originally hand painted in gouache and watercolor. I scanned the artwork in and created the layout digitally. For our day-of elements, I hand carved some stamps and stamped each menu with colorful floral motifs. Our favors were small Muji notebooks, stamped with a hand carved pretzel stamp. The pretzel symbolized New York City and Philadelphia: the two cities we lived in together. The envelopes were all hand addresses by me.

The Save the Date cards were each hand painted on kraft card stock with blue ink and then dotted with white ink. Her custom calligraphy was then stamped on top.

I love the unique colour palette that she uses in her invitations. It is not easy to pull off a black invite but she does it flawlessly by incorporating coloured flowers and leaves to brighten up the whole look.
