Process

Consultation

We’ll begin with a free one-hour consultation either in person, on the phone or online. During the meeting, we learn more about your needs, personality and exactly what kind of event you’re having. We’ll also review any visual inspiration you may have: photos, colours, swatches, sketches, themes, and so on. We love Pinterest, so if you have wedding pins ready to go, we’d be happy to take a look at them!

Local Love: Our speciality is design, but if you’d like a little help with your invitation wording, let us know at the consultation and we’d be pleased to put you in touch with talented local writers.

Quote

Within 48 hours of your consultation, we’ll send you a price estimate and proposal that includes the materials, colour, printing processes, turn-around dates and all relevant pricing involved in your order. After you give us feedback or make any needed changes, we’ll sign an agreement. At this time, a non-refundable 50% deposit is due.

A Note on Pricing: Each design commission is completely unique, which is why we don’t offer packages. We can work to different price points, however, and we’ll do our best to capture your design ideas while keeping you under budget.

Design Process

Within two weeks of receiving your quote approval, deposit, and the wording you have chosen for your invitation, we’ll email you a digital proof of your design.

Revisions

At this time, we ask that you review the proofs and provide us with any feedback, edits, or additional design changes. Then we’ll revise your order and send you up to two additional proofs at no extra cost. Please note that most changes will take 2-3 business days.

Approval

Almost there! Your final proof will be emailed to you. At this time, you do a final check that spelling, dates, and names are correct. You may request a colour proof at an additional charge. Once we’ve both agreed your invitations are perfect, the final balance is due. Then we send your invitations to the printer.

Production & Delivery

Your order will take 4-6 weeks to complete, depending on the printing process and size of your order. Rush printing and assembly services are also available at an additional cost.

Why Glossie?

Nicole had been working for large corporate clients for several years when she decided to branch out on her own. As an independent designer she developed brand identities, logos, websites, stationery, marketing campaigns, and everything in between. When friends began asking her to design wedding invitations, she discovered her passion for personalized, high-end print design.

How far in advance should I contact you?

We only take on a limited number of wedding clients per year to make sure we have the time to dedicate to your big day. The design process can take anywhere from 4-6 weeks, depending on the order, and the printing will take another 2-6 weeks upon final approval.

But I don’t have all the details yet!

Don’t worry! You don’t need to have all your event details finalized before getting started. We’ll confirm the event dates, times, locations, and wording for your invitation suite before each piece goes to print. Still finalizing the rehearsal dinner location? Not sure if the wedding is starting at 4:00 p.m. or 5:30 p.m.? These are all details that can be confirmed later and will not affect the beginning of the design process.

We have a tight budget – can we still work with you?

We hope so! While custom design tends to cost more than off-the-shelf stationery because of the time and materials involved, we offer a variety of options to try and accommodate every budget. If you have an idea in mind, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Do you offer letterpress?

We do indeed. This method of printing uses large, hand-operated equipment to press your design into the paper, distributing the ink gently into the fibers. Letterpress requires time, expertise, and attention to detail — which is why we work with passionate, meticulous printers!

Yes! We know every couple has a different budget, so we also offer flat printing, which has a lower cost. It also allows us to use more colours and print on both sides of the paper, giving you more design options.

What do you design?

We do full wedding stationery suites as well as menus, programs, accommodation cards, escort cards, table numbers, place cards, guest books, thank you stationery, and so on. If you want something custom made for your special event, we can create it for you.

When should I send out my invitations?

Wedding Save the Date cards are usually sent out a year before the wedding date, especially for destination weddings. Wedding invitations are generally sent out 6-10 weeks before the wedding date. And don’t forget: give yourself time to stuff, stamp, and address your envelopes. Or, include it in your order and we’ll be happy to incorporate this step into your timing schedule!
